Dorothy Izatt, Extraterrestrial or Extradimensional Life?

The case of Dorothy Izatt presents us with important evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life. Since 1974, Dorothy has been filming luminous objects in the night sky of Vancouver with an 8 mm film camera, best known as Super-8. Dorothy has over 9000 meters of films of these objects floating in the sky and creating explosions of light.

Many Hollywood experts have examined her films and have declared that reproducing those images digitally would require a team of professionals working full-time, and loads of money. In 2003, when Dorothy Izatt was 81 years old, Frank Longo made a documentary about her experiences called “Capturing the LIght”. This documentary was awarded the EBE to the documentary with the best UFO images in 2008.

After a series of tests to verify the authenticity of this phenomenon, Dr. Allen Hynek (1910-1986), a renowned astronomer and UFO researcher, decided to endorse Dorothy Izatt’s films. We must consider that Dr. Hynek, together with Dr. Jacques Vallée, proposed that UFOs could be beings from another dimension instead of aliens, which would explain how they, “apparently”, defy the laws of physics. As to the strange light forms in Dorothy’s films, Hynek suggested they could be passages to the world where these beings lived and that they would open every now and then as a result of the dimensional portals these beings would use to get to our world. In the video below you can see an interview with Dorothy Izzat in a sequence from the tv show “Unsolved Mysteries”.

It is to be pointed out that there are not a lot of techniques that can produce the one photogram trails of light which appear in Dorothy’s films.

An option would be to intervene the image digitally, which means to transfer the Super-8 films to a computer, insert the luminous objects and/or explosions and, finally, return these images to the Super-8 camera. Notwithstanding the high costs of this process, the major problem of this option would be that, by mid 70s and the beginning of the 80s, the technology to digitally manipulate images was not as advanced as it is today, and the access to computers with the capacity to perform such a manipulation was quite limited. In short, back then, only a few had a MacBook with Photoshop CS5 or anything similar at home.

In one of her contacts with these light beings, Dorothy asked: Do you have a name? Then, there was an explosion of light and the object disappeared. When the film was developed, an explosion of light appeared, leaving a trace that resembled a signature on the lower right side.

Another option would be to intervene the film itself. We could cut the film, in physical, in a Moviola and insert the photogram containing the explosions of light. Then, we would produce a new copy with the photogram of the explosion of light already included. This option is viable. However, in another sequence of the documentary, which we have not included among the videos, the director of photography, Craig Keif, says someone took the time to personally take the film out of Dorothy’s camera and send it to a laboratory to avoid the intervention of a third party. The film came back from the laboratory with the same explosions of light Dorothy had filmed for years.

The possibility of someone secretly working with Dorothy Izzat and inserting these photograms in the film cannot be ruled out. However, taking into consideration Dorothy’s reluctance to appear in the media, the testimony and endorsement of Dr. Hynek, and the strange lights caught in video while filming this documentary, it is not hard to think it might be real.

We hope that those more than 9000 meters of film registered by Dorothy are not left abandoned in a basement and that they are studied. Maybe the clues that are needed to start to seriously consider the existence of alien life are hidden within these images.

I will leave you with a statement made by Dr. Allen Hynek in 1977, during the first International UFO Congress in Chicago:

“I believe the UFO phenomenon is real, although I don’t think it’s one single thing. We have to ask ourselves whether the variety of UFOs sighted come from a single source… there is enough evidence to defend the existence of alien intelligence, as well as inter-dimensional intelligence. To me, it seems possible that there is a civilization covering physical, material and mental aspects. There are millions of stars that are millions of years older than the Sun. There could be a civilization millions of years more advanced than ours. We passed from the Kitty Hawk missiles to the Moon in almost 70 years. It is possible that a civilization that is one million years old knows something we don’t. The realms of the mind, so mysterious for us now, could be a common part of an advanced technology”.

    Hi Alan

Thanks for this article. It’s good to see Dorothy’s story getting some much needed exposure.
Capturing The Light is a great documentary that should be seen by anyone with an interest in UFO’s and the Paranormal.
The film captures what these experiences mean to Dorothy and her family and contains a great affirmation which I won’t spoil here!
    I have written a piece of music dedicated to Dorothy called;
Being of Light – for Dorothy Izatt
Which you can hear at: http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=183494

      Hi Joe,

I must say i was deeply moved by your song. Somehow, it adds a needed dimension to Dorothy’s experiences. It made me feel free and weightless in a very truthful way. I do not post that often here, because, this is a blog that feeds from my spanish blog which is linked in the blogroll, i hope in the next months I will have more time and start posting some of the translations from the spanish blog. Anyway, I was checking the admin panel and i saw this comment and really your music was a gift…

Thank you for your kind words Alan. I’m glad my track resonated with you in such a way.

Amazingly, Frank Longo, who I sent an mp3 of the track, has sent a copy to Dorothy’s family so I hope she gets a chance to hear it.
Dorothy’s story is unique and deserves a much wider exposure than it currently has.
Thanks for your article, that is helping expose her story to more people and thanks again for your comments, I really appreciate them.
    All the best
